The 2026 BMW 8 Series arrives essentially unchanged from last year. It impresses with strong performance across the lineup and delivers a comfortable ride ideal for long trips. Though a compact luxury model, the 8 Series offers a surprisingly roomy cargo area and an interior that feels refined, calm, and well-crafted.
What Are the 2026 8 Series Trims & Features?
The 2026 8 Series is offered in three trims.
The entry-level 840i comes with standard equipment, such as 19-inch wheels, adaptive LED headlights that swivel with turns, and performance brakes. It also has heated side mirrors, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and leather upholstery. Tech features on the base model include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, and a head-up display. You'll also find a wireless phone charger and a 16-speaker audio system as standard.
The 840i xDrive builds on the base feature set and adds standard all-wheel drive. Rear-wheel steering is available as an option, and this trim also includes a fabric-covered power-folding top.
The M850i xDrive tops the range. It features performance tires on 20-inch wheels, an adaptive sport suspension, and ventilated front seats for an extra touch of luxury.
BMW offers several packages to further customize the 2026 8 Series, such as the Sport Professional package with a rear spoiler, dark brake calipers, and special exterior lighting; a Driver Assistance package that adds more safety features; and a Performance Tire Package that swaps in unique wheels, high-performance tires, and upgraded front brakes.
Standalone options are also available, including a carbon-fiber roof and carbon exterior trim accents.
How Much Horsepower Does the 2026 8 Series Have?
The standard powertrain produces up to 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The M850i xDrive is powered by a more potent V8 that delivers 523 horsepower.
