The 240i coupe and convertible up the ante with 18-inch wheels, a sunroof (coupe only), a rear spoiler, an adaptive suspension, satellite radio, and a sports exhaust. They also get a universal garage door opener, sporty exterior flourishes, upgraded brakes, and an auto-dimming feature on the driver-side rearview mirror. Most of the extra features on the 240i are options on the 230i.

Purchasing the Premium package gives you access to a more detailed instrument panel, a navigation system, smartphone-app remote control, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats. Stand-alone add-ons include adaptive headlights, leather upholstery, a Wi-Fi hotspot, front and rear parking sensors, a wireless charging pad, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon system, and Apple CarPlay. Adaptive cruise control, summer performance tires, and 19-inch wheels are also available.

Engine, Transmission & MPG Specs

2018 BMW 2 Series PerformanceThe 2018 BMW 2 Series comes with two amazing fuel economy rating engines. Both engines link to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels standard or to all wheels optionally. An available six-speed manual is a free option available to all RWD versions except in the 230i convertible.

The first engine on the 2018 2 Series is a 2.0-liter turbo-four unit worth 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It powers the 230i models and returns 23/24 mpg and 24/35 mpg city/highway in the RWD versions of the convertibles and coupes respectively when linked to the eight-speed automatic. EPA estimates 21/32 mpg when it employs the six-speed manual.

The M240i seeks motivation from a 335-hp, 369-lb-ft 3.0-liter twin-turbo I-6 unit. The engine paired with the eight-speed automatic transmission delivers 21/32 mpg city/highway in both drivetrains of the convertible and coupe models. The six-speed manual ranks at 19/28 mpg.

The performance-oriented M2 coupe is home to a 365-hp, 343-lb-ft 3.0-liter V-6 engine that delivers 20/26 mpg and 18/26 mpg with a seven-speed dual-clutch and a six-speed manual transmission respectively.
