Discover the New BMW i7 Electric Sedan in Springfield.

The new BMW i7 does not ask drivers to choose between electric performance and flagship luxury. It treats both as essential.

BMW’s fully electric executive sedan combines instant power with a quiet cabin, spacious rear seating and technology designed around every occupant. Its preliminary estimated range reaches up to 350 miles, while dual electric motors and BMW xDrive provide strong acceleration and all-wheel-drive capability.

The i7 is built for someone who does not view electric driving as a sacrifice. Quite the opposite: removing the gasoline engine gives BMW another way to make its flagship smoother, quieter and more responsive.

Is the New BMW i7 Fast?

BMW has announced the 449-horsepower i7 50 xDrive and the 536-horsepower i7 60 xDrive. Each uses an electric motor at the front and rear to provide all-wheel drive.

Preliminary BMW testing estimates that the i7 60 xDrive can reach 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. Electric torque arrives immediately, so acceleration should feel smooth and decisive rather than building through a sequence of gear changes.

Adaptive two-axle air suspension helps balance road comfort with controlled handling. Integral Active Steering can turn the rear wheels to reduce the amount of space required during low-speed maneuvers and support stability at higher speeds.

That can be valuable when moving through a crowded Springfield parking area—and considerably more interesting once the road opens beyond city limits.

What Is the Estimated Range of the BMW i7?

BMW currently projects a maximum driving range of up to 350 miles. Actual range will depend on the model, wheel and tire selection, outside temperature, terrain, speed, climate-control use and other conditions.

The figure remains a preliminary BMW estimate rather than a final EPA-certified rating. Model-specific EPA figures should become available closer to launch.

For many Springfield-area owners, home charging could allow the i7 to begin each morning with the range needed for daily commuting, appointments and errands. Its estimated capacity may also support regional travel to Branson, Joplin, Lake of the Ozarks and northwest Arkansas with appropriate charging planning.

How Will Drivers Charge the New i7?

The new i7 uses a native NACS charging port and will have access to compatible Tesla Superchargers through the BMW ChargingNetwork. BMW says adapters will also be included for compatible CCS DC fast-charging stations and J1772 AC chargers.

Expected charging resources include:

  • Home charging through a compatible 240-volt outlet
  • An available BMW Wallbox Plus
  • Compatible Tesla Supercharger access
  • CCS and J1772 charging adapters
  • Charge-aware navigation
  • Charging controls through the My BMW App

The navigation system can incorporate charging stops into longer routes, while the app can help the owner manage charging schedules and review vehicle status remotely.

Final DC fast-charging speeds and model-specific charging times should be confirmed once BMW releases complete technical documentation.

Why Does the BMW i7 Feel Like More Than an EV?

Electric power is only one part of the i7 experience.

Its cabin introduces BMW Panoramic Vision, which places information across the lower windshield. A Central Display, available 3D Head-Up Display and available 14.6-inch Passenger Screen create separate but connected digital spaces for the driver and front passenger.

In the rear, the available Executive Lounge may include reclining comfort, heating, ventilation, massage functions and an extended passenger footrest. Door-mounted touchscreens place cabin controls within easy reach.

The available 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theatre Screen can lower from the roof for streaming, gaming and video calls. Paired with the available Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, it gives the i7 a rear cabin that can function as a cinema, mobile office or particularly effective hiding place from the outside world.
