The 2021 BMW M550i xDrive tops the line for the BMW 5 Series. This year, the 5 Series gets mostly trim-specific upgrades and enhancements. Changes specific to the M550i include an updated front grille design for a more sculpted and modern appearance. A refreshed infotainment system and updated voice control technology are other highlights for the 2021 M550i. The M5 Sedan, which is another top choice if you're in the market for a BMW sedan, now comes with refreshed styling as well, but it has changes to both the front and back ends. The M5 Sedan adds a new touchscreen to its interior equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.


In 2021, the BMW M550i xDrive has its own engine, a turbo V8 engine with a displacement of 4.4 liters. The BMW's powerful engine cranks out up to 523 HP to give you an impressive amount of power when you need it. The BMW's engine also has a maximum torque output of 533 LB-FT, which is just as remarkable. You will get BMW's all-wheel drive system called xDrive as a standard feature with the trim. An eight-speed transmission comes with the M550i. The M5 Sedan has a different engine, a twin-turbo V8 with a maximum of 600 HP in power output. The M5 Sedan has a peak torque rating of 553 LB-FT. As with the M550i, it comes with an eight-speed transmission.


The 550i has a striking exterior appearance with its newly redesigned front end. This trim also has 19-inch wheels and adaptive headlights to make a bold first impression. You can also choose the option of larger 20-inch wheels instead. Extra sporty styling accents give the M550i an added athletic appeal, including a custom rear spoiler and high-performance brakes. The M5 Sedan has a polished exterior with a more refined and elegant character graced by chrome touches all around. LED headlights are standard with the M5.


The M550i comes fully loaded with a cabin that is functional and sophisticated with sporty accents. Leather seats, a premium sound system, and a sporty steering wheel highlight the M550i's interior. It also has a Harman Kardon sound system and wireless device charging. A 12.3-inch infotainment system with navigation is standard. The M5 has a standard 12.2-inch display screen with Apple CarPlay and smartphone integration. You'll get a Harman Kardon stereo and plenty of safety aids as well.
