What's New for the 2026 BMW M3?

For the 2026 model year, a heated steering wheel now comes standard across the lineup. Meanwhile, the Competition trim level adds remote start to its list of standard equipment.

What Are the 2026 M3 Trims & Features?

There are three available trim levels: M3, M3 Competition, and M3 Competition xDrive.

Even the base M3 offers a thrilling performance. It also comes loaded with a lengthy list of premium features. Adjustable M Sport seats and an M leather steering wheel help prepare you for an exciting drive. Modern tech features, such as a voice-activated BMW Personal Assistant, make your driving experience more rewarding. Other highlights include a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay®/Android Auto® smartphone integration, and leather upholstery.

The M3 Competition packs more muscle under the hood. This high-output trim also features gloss black exterior accents and larger wheels. While the M3 Competition xDrive is similarly equipped, it replaces the standard rear-wheel drive setup with all-wheel drive.

How Much Horsepower Does the 2026 M3 Have?

Motivation comes from a high-performance 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine. The base M3 is rated to develop an exciting 473 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. You can enjoy the action of a six-speed manual gearbox. Meanwhile, an adaptive M suspension ensures dynamic handling. BMW also equips the sedan with quick-stopping M Sport Brakes and an M Sport rear differential for improved traction.

Aside from being specially tuned to produce 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, the M3 Competition also swaps the manual transmission for an eight-speed M Steptronic Sport automatic. Because of the AWD-equipped M3 Competition xDrive's enhanced grip, it offers even quicker acceleration and produces up to 523 horsepower.

What Safety Features Does the 2026 M3 Include?

A suite of safety features comes standard on the new M3. While Active Blind Spot Detection enhances awareness when changing lanes, Frontal Collision Warning with City Collision Mitigation constantly monitors the road ahead for vehicles and pedestrians. Other standard driver-assistance technologies include Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Active Lane Keeping Assistant, Evasion Aid, and Traffic Jam Assistant.
