What's New for the 2018 BMW X Series?

The 2018 BMW X Series will feature a wide arrange of Sport Activity Vehicles, including six different versions of the X series for this new year, including for the first time, the X2. The SAVs will feature sleek and stylish designs made to be aerodynamic and will feature signature kidney grilles, spacious interiors, and plenty of cargo space.

Great Options to Choose From

For the entire X Series, BMW offers a Driver Assist Package and BMW's intelligent all-wheel drive. The X1 offers a lot of cargo space; 58.7 inches of cargo space with seats folded down and 40/20/40 rear folding seats. There is also a full-color heads-up display with iDrive, 39.4 inches of rear headroom, and backseats with optional reclining and sliding for extra relaxation. The X2, being the coupe SUV offers 18' - 20' wheels along with onboard WiFi and wireless charging. The X3 has 62.7 inches of cargo space with split fold-down rear seats. It also has Adaptive M Sports suspension, 8' ground clearance, and an 8.8 inch (or optional 12.3 inches) instrument screen with iDrive. For the X4, a 10-way power adjustable passenger front seat keeps the passenger in full comfort. There is a full-color heads-up display with the iDrive 5.0 system. The X5 has the most seating, with 3 rows of it, including Comfort Rear Seating that allows for an extra 3" of legroom in the back with reclined seating. For more entertainment for the back seat passengers, there are two optional 10.2" LED screens. Cargo room is plenty with the X5, with 35.8-inch cargo space that expands to 76.7 inches with seats folded down. Because of the 3rd row, it has its own climate control. And the X6 sports activity coupe offers much of what has been described before, with the addition of the Harman Kardon speaker system (16-high quality speakers).

Engine, Transmission & MPG Specs

2018 BMW X Series PerformanceBetween the six different X Series versions of the BMW SUV, there are multiple options for every kind of driver. The X1 offers a 228-horsepower, 4 cylinders, 2.0-liter engine with an 8-Speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission. The X2 is more of a duo setting, with two options of the vehicle, one being all-wheel drive and the other being front-wheel drive. It also has the same engine specs as the X1. The X3 meanwhile, boasts a higher horsepower than the other versions before. Still a 2.0-liter, 4 cylinder engine, this one boasts a 0-60 time of 4.6 seconds and a top rating of 355-horsepower. The X4 has a slightly larger engine, with 6 cylinders, complete with an 8-speed sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The X4 also has a top speed of 155 mph. The X5 offers the most fuel-efficiency of the X Series, with an EPA rated 56mpg highway. With a 6 cylinder, 3.0-liter engine, the X5 produces 445 horsepower. And finally, the X6 offers the same 6 cylinders, 3.0-liter engine as the X5, with the same horsepower rate of 445 while moving quicker in the 0-60 test, being clocked at 4.6 seconds.
