Like any vehicle, the BMW 5 Series requires regular maintenance to keep running smoothly. While it's always best to look at your manual for a more specific BMW 5 Series maintenance schedule, you can still look to the following service intervals to get a good idea of when to bring your vehicle into our service center.
15,000-Mile Service
At 15,000 miles, your BMW 5 Series likely won't need a lot of work if you've been careful with it. Your mechanic will likely change your oil if your vehicle is due for it, and they will check your brakes and tires to make sure that they're still in good condition. A certified technician will also check the safety features, such as your windshield wipers and headlights, to make sure that they're in good working order.
30,000-Mile Service
Your 30,000-mile service will likely involve another check of your tires and brakes, as well as another oil change. Your air and fuel filters may need to be changed at this time as well, especially if you've been driving and parking in particularly dusty environments.
60,000-Mile Service
Once your BMW 5 Series hits 60,000 miles, it will likely require some additional work. If you haven't replaced your brakes and brake fluid, that will usually be done during this time. Your coolant and transmission fluid needs to be changed between 60,000 and 75,000 miles, so a mechanic will take care of this if it is necessary. Your battery may also be inspected and replaced if it's on its last legs.
90,000-Mile Service
Your 90,000-mile service will be more comprehensive than your previous checkups. Most of the items that were addressed at 60,000 miles will be looked over again, while components such as hoses, spark plugs, power steering fluid, and your timing belt may need to be replaced.
Sticking to these general BMW 5 Series service intervals is a great way to keep your vehicle working for your for years to come. If you've hit any of these milestones or you suspect that your BMW 5 Series requires any other work, contact BMW of Springfield as soon as possible to schedule a service appointment.
