When it comes to luxurious, high-end cars, BMW is the brand to compete with. The German automaker has an extensive lineup of quality, performance-ready models that are at the top of their individual segments. In an effort to further meet the needs of different car buyers, the brand has plans to expand their roster, adding a new saloon model into the mix.
With new competition in the saloon segment on the rise, there’s no better time for BMW to show the world what they can contribute to the segment. As of now, there is a big gap in their roster between the 7-Series and the Rolls-Royce Ghost, and a new saloon model would fill it nicely. According to BMW Development Chief Klaus Froehlich, the automaker is committed to developing the saloon model, and unlike some of their competitors, it will not arrive as a clone of an existing vehicle with an extended wheelbase. It will be a brand-new vehicle with a unique design and top-notch performance to match.
Planning for the new saloon model is still in the early stages and there’s no current details as to what the car may or may not look like. There is talk it could arrive as a “9-Series” model, but as of now, there has been no confirmation from BMW.
