BMW recently celebrated the production of 10 million 3 Series Sedans at their facility in Munich, Germany. This milestone achievement was carried out almost 40 years after the first 3 Series rolled off the assembly line and officially took its place on the market.
All six generations of the BMW 3 Series Sedan were built at the manufacturer's Munich plant, so it was only fitting that the facility produce the special 10 millionth model, an Imperial Blue 320d. Over the years, the facility has been known to pump out over 1,000 cars each day and many of those models have been 3 Series Sedans. In addition to this plant, different variations of the 3 Series models are also developed in South Africa, China and Regensburg, Germany. A total of 14 million 3 Series units have been built up until this point thanks to these facilities and the efforts of their employees.
"The success story of the BMW 3 Series started here in Plant Munich and is now reaching a very special highpoint here as well. The fact that this landmark vehicle was produced at our plant is a particular honor for us and makes me very proud indeed of my team," said Hermann Bohrer, Plant Director at the BMW Group facility in Munich.
