The BMW i Remote will be the first auto app to arrive on the smartwatch, giving drivers the ability to receive notifications when their BMW i3 or i8 is fully charged, check the car’s current range, alter cabin temperature and obtain door-lock status. Additionally, owners will be able to locate their car in a crowded parking lot, check their car battery's condition and receive regular service reminders when routine maintenance is needed. The arrival of BMW i Remote on the Apple Watch marks the beginning of the smartwatch's relationship with automotive technology. Apple CEO Tim Cook hopes to eventually use the watch as a replacement for car keys and key fobs, ultimately changing the automotive world as we know it.
