BMW has seen tremendous success with its supercar plug-in hybrid model, the i8, and now in order to meet increasing demand for the high-speed, green friendly vehicle, BMW will be ramping up production at their German factory. With more i8s being cranked out each day, the wait time for a model will be cut down significantly, benefiting buyers in Europe and the U.S.

BMW's plan to speed up i8 production will lead to 20 vehicles being produced daily. That is double the current production pace, which has resulted in slow delivery times. As of now, i8 buyers in the U.S. and Europe have to wait an average of four months before they receive their car. By increasing production, BMW should be able to change this delivery time and get each plug-in model out sooner. Just last year, BMW sold 555 i8s during its first five months on the market. It sold another 198 from the beginning of 2015 to February and sales are not expected to slow down anytime soon.
