The all-new BMW X1 is arriving for 2015 and news is beginning to circulate that the incoming model could be receiving a performance-focused version under the company's M division. BMW has stated in the past the no model, aside from the M4 Gran Coupe, was off limits for a potential M variant, which has led many to believe the recent rumors about the XI M version to be true. With the debut of the next-generation X1, an M variant could serve as an ideal counterpart and bring new fans for BMW, creating a win-win situation for the automaker.
If an M version X1 was to be released alongside the second-generation 2015 X1, it could rival the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG and Audi RS Q3. This could be a plus for BMW and give them an additional chance to compete in the performance SUV segment against two of their biggest competitors. The standard X1 is already prepped to go up against the Audi Q3 and Mercedes GLA and displays a configuration that resembles the one found in both cars. This further supports the idea of an X1 M variant, making its likelihood a real possibility.
While there's no official news yet about an X1 M, we can keep our fingers crossed that a model is on its way. Reliable BMW will be your go-to dealership if it is released, but in the meantime, you can check out our 2014 X1 models currently on sale.
