Hate parking your car? Well, you may no longer have to if you purchase a BMW in the future. The German automaker recently developed a brand-new automated feature that will allow your BMW to park itself. Appropriately called Remote Valet Parking Assistant, the high-tech system, which is currently being tested on the BMW i3, could bring an end to driver-assisted parking, changing the automotive world for the better.

BMW's Remote Parking Valet Assistant is unlike anything available on production cars today. The system uses laser scanners in conjunction with a digital site plan of a parking garage to independently steer the car through the garage and into an open parking spot. By using the Smartwatch to activate the program, drivers will be able to exit the car at the parking garage entrance and let remote Parking Valet Assistant take over. The system is also equipped to avoid any obstacles that the car may encounter along the way and automatically locks the car once it is parked. When it's time to leave, the driver can reactivate the system from the Smartwatch and it will calculate how long it will take for the driver to arrive to the parking garage entrance, giving it the proper time to bring the car down to the exit before the driver arrives.

At this time, Remote Parking Valet Assistant is not offered on any BMW models, but there is a good chance the technology will be available in the future.
