When we first introduced you to the new BMW 7-Series back in April of last year, we mentioned the 2016 model would come equipped with a series of innovative technology, including a new remote parking feature. At the time, word around the industry suggested the advanced feature would not be offered in the U.S. due to certain federal law restrictions, but we’ve finally received confirmation that North American models will soon come outfitted with this state-of-the-art amenity!
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration has given BMW the official go ahead to offer remote parking on upcoming US-spec 7-Series models. The feature, which allows owners to remotely move their car through a parking garage and into a parking spot without anyone behind the wheel of the vehicle, is controlled through the touchscreen BMW Display Key that comes standard with the 7-Series. BMW is one of the leading luxury automakers in the industry promoting this ground-breaking technology, and within the next few years, we could see it arrive on more models in their lineup. Incoming 2016 7-Series models at BMW of Springfield will come outfitted with this new feature, so be on lookout for them at our dealership in the coming months.
