New rumors circulating around the automotive industry claim that BMW could be gearing up to launch a new quadro-diesel engine in 2016. According to a variety of news sources, the engine has been codenamed 'B57 TO'’ and is slated to arrive on the incoming BMW 750d; however, it is expected to eventually be offered on other BMW models in the lineup.
As of right now, BMW has been using a tri-turbo six-cylinder diesel engine on several vehicles in its roster, but that's likely to change if a quadro-diesel engine arrives. There’s no word as to whether or not the displacement will come with an actual fourth turbo or a supercharger when it makes its introduction but, according to sources, the engine will generate 400 horsepower and 590 lb.-ft. of torque. Aside from the 2016 BMW 750d, the 5-Series, X5, X6 and X7 are also expected to receive the quadro-diesel engine. This addition could increase horsepower and torque on each model, which will suit modern drivers.
While there has been no official statement released regarding the quadro-diesel engine, there's still a good chance it could arrive on the BMW 750d next year. In the meantime, you can check out the standard 2015 BMW 750Li, which is available now at Reliable BMW.
