2019 BMW I8 Roadster and Coupe

What's New for the 2019 BMW i8 Roadster and i8 Coupe?

The 2019 BMW i8 Roadster and i8 Coupe are sleek vehicles on the road for their futuristic design and unmatched performance. The hybrid sports car comes with green credentials without compromising on the power of the engine.

The i8 Roadster has two seats and has more power than the previous model from last year. New color options are available, making it easy to choose a vehicle that stands out on the road and suits your taste. Drivers can select the Donington Grey metallic shade or the E-Copper metallic. Copper upholstery is also an option and looks high-end with the luxury materials that are used. The leather seats enhance the level of the luxury inside of the cabin and are paired with curvy, modern features.

The Roadster includes a new lithium-ion battery pack with multiple plugins and a cell capacity of 20 Ah to 34 Ah for more energy that jumps from 7.1 kWh to 11.6 kWh. The model is still built with an award-winning engine that has 236 lb-ft of torque and 228 horsepower. Both the Roadster and i8 Coupe can also charge in less than three hours, making it easy to get back on the road without spending the day waiting for the vehicle to be ready to turn on.

Although the cabin is cozy, the Roadster still offers a bit of room behind the driver and passenger seats for extra storage space. The vehicle is built with an electric soft top that can open in 16 seconds with a push of a button. There's also a high level of soundproofing that comes with the fabric roof and doesn't take up too much room when it's folded into the vehicle. When you want to drive under the open skies and enjoy riding in a convertible, a rear window begins to raise out of the car 1.9 inches, which improves the airflow in the car.

Plenty of tech features also come standard in the vehicle to increase your ease of use with entertainment options and the navigation system. Its new iDrive infotainment system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and an online destination search. The system is easy to use with an 8.8-inch touchscreen that is within reach of the driver's seat on the dashboard and is tilted towards the driver.

The Roadster is slightly heavier than the Coupe and weighs 3,515 pounds, which is 132 pounds more than the Coupe. Additional features that come standard in both the Roadster and Coupe include heated seats, three driving modes, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

Drivers who want to have plenty of control and speed on the road can enjoy accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds with the Coupe and 4.4 seconds with the Roadster, which will allow you to change lanes or merge onto a highway with ease. The top speed for both vehicles is 155 mph. Those who want to reduce their carbon footprint and spend less money on fuel favor the 70 mpg that is available with the electric car, which makes it easier to take fewer stops when recharging the sportscar. The Roadster also offers unique steering, stability control, and suspension because it weighs more than the Coupe. Aluminum butterfly doors are one of the main highlights of the i8 Roadster and i8 Coupe with structural side skirts that are also provided
